THE STUDIO
At The Studio Helsinki, we are dedicated to offering the highest quality teaching in Classical Pilates, preserving the authenticity and integrity of Joseph Pilates’ original method.
Our fully equipped studio features the complete range of classical apparatus. Each piece was originally designed by Joseph Pilates and remains an essential part of the method, allowing us to tailor exercises precisely to every individual’s needs.
We teach in the Romana’s Pilates lineage — the closest continuation of Joseph Pilates' life’s work, where each exercise follows the original sequence, rhythm, and intention. The method emphasizes precision, flow, and control. Cultivating strength, balance, and resilience, all supported by conscious breath and focused awareness.
Our teaching style is highly hands-on and personalized. Through careful guidance and subtle adjustments, we help clients find correct alignment, deeper connection, and a true understanding of each movement. This ensures that Pilates unfolds intelligently in every body — whether you are new to the method, recovering from injury, or seeking to enhance athletic performance.
At its core, Classical Pilates is more than just exercise. It is a practice that unites body, mind, and spirit, building not only a stronger body but also focus, awareness, and inner balance. At The Studio Helsinki, we welcome you into a calm, fully equipped space where tradition meets quality — a place to move, to strengthen, and to reconnect with your center.
THE PILATES METHOD
Pilates is a physical training method created by Joseph Pilates nearly 100 years ago. He originally named it Contrology and described it as “the complete coordination of body, mind, and spirit.”
Unlike general fitness routines, Pilates is a structured system of exercises performed on specialized apparatus designed by Joseph himself. The method is precise and progressive, building strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, and control in equal measure.
Because of its holistic nature, Pilates is not only an effective way to condition the body but also a safe and highly beneficial practice for injury prevention and rehabilitation. Whether you are an athlete seeking to improve performance, recovering from physical setbacks, or simply looking for a stronger and more balanced body, Pilates offers a method that adapts to your needs while staying true to its original principles.
Joseph Pilates’ legacy was carried forward by his protégé Romana Kryzanowska, who trained directly under Joseph and Clara and devoted her life to preserving the original method with authenticity and integrity. Today, the international Romana’s Pilates community continues her mission, upholding the highest standards of classical Pilates teaching worldwide.
